Main Pneumonia Symptoms
By Groshan Fabiola
There are several type of pneumonia. Each one of these type has distinctive pneumonia symptoms.

Symptoms for common pneumonia are:
- if you suffer from bacterial pneumonia, then the symptoms will develop very abruptly and some of them are: pain in your chest; shaking; chills; fever; rapid heart beats and sometimes you will also experience shortness of breath if you have bacterial pneumonia;
- mental confusion, a very rapid heart beat and high fever are also symptoms of pneumonia, but this mainly indicate a medical emergency; when suffering from these pneumonia symptoms you should go to the hospital right away;
- coughing sputum that contains blood or pus indicates that you have a very serious pneumonia case, because these symptoms indicate a very serious infection;
- very severe pain in your abdomen is also another sign of pneumonia, usually when you are suffering from pneumonia in your lower lobes;
- when the pneumonia case is very severe, your skin will also become cyanotic and you will have serious troubles breathing;

If an elder suffers from pneumonia, he/ she will have less symptoms than a young person will. Moreover, an older person might also experience different pneumonia symptoms than a younger person. Some of the most common symptoms of pneumonia in an older person are: lethargy, confusion or a state of general deterioration; this is the reason why, when an older person simply coughs or feels weakness for more than one day, a doctor should be see right away to see if he/ she is suffering from pneumonia;

Another type of pneumonia is atypical pneumonia. This is mostly seen in young adults and children and it is caused by mycoplasma. Some of the most common signs of this pneumonia type are:
- at first you will experience symptoms very similar to those of the flu; these signs will progress gradually into more accurate pneumonia symptoms; some of the first signs of atypical pneumonia are fatigue, headache, sore throat, mild fever, weakness, nasal discharge , ear ache and some intestinal distress;
- some pain under your

breast bone or around it can indicate atypical pneumonia;
- severe cough that does not produce sputum;

If you suffer from pneumonia that is caused by an anaerobic bacteria, then you will suffer from prolonged fever, a very severe cough that produces a lot of sputum, frequently having blood. As many as a third of these pneumonia patients experience some loss of weight.
